1. HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE TRANSACTION OR CONTINUATION OF CARDMEMBER STATUS NECESSARY TO ENTER. This promotion is sponsored by Marriott® Vacation Club International and American Express. Upon submission of a short survey located in the following three places: the Membership Rewards Quarterly Update and the www.americanexpress.com/rewards or http://sweepstakes.vacationclub.com/amex websites you will be automatically entered into the Sweepstakes. 

To enter without submitting the survey, send a 3” X 5” card containing the following information: name, address including city, state and zip code, home telephone number, business telephone number, email address (if applicable) and last four digits of your American Express Card number (if applicable) to:

Sweepstakes begins at 12:01AM EST on 6/29/00 and ends at 11:59PM EST on 12/28/00 and all mail-in entries must be postmarked by 12/28/00 and received by 1/4/01. Only one entry will be accepted per person per day. All entries become the property of American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. (“American Express”) and Marriott Vacation Club International.

2. PRIZES: Grand Prize (1): 1,000,000 Membership Rewards points from American Express. Approximate Value: $5,000. First Prize (5): 100,000 Membership Rewards points from American Express. Approximate Value: $500. Second Prize (50): 10,000 Membership Rewards points from American Express. Approximate Value: $50. Winners of prizes who are not currently a Membership Rewards program member will be awarded the cash equivalent of the prize. Taxes on all prizes are the responsibility of the winner.

3. SELECTION OF WINNERS: The winners will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received during the promotion period. The winners will be selected on or about January 28, 2001. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Sweepstakes drawing will be conducted by Merkle Direct Marketing, Inc. (“Merkle”), an independent judging organization whose decisions are final. The winner will be notified by mail on or about February 4, 2001.

4. ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the US who are at least 18 years of age as of June 29, 2000. Employees of American Express, Marriott Vacation Club International and each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, advertising agencies, Diamond Group, Inc. (“Diamond”), Merkle and their families are not eligible to participate. Sweepstakes is void where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state and local laws apply. Only one winner per household or organization. Prizes are not transferable. Entries that contain errors, are incomplete, mechanically reproduced or illegible will not be accepted. American Express, Marriott Vacation Club International, Diamond and Merkle are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or damaged mail or entries. Diamond and Merkle will be the sole judge of which entries qualify and are valid, and its decisions are final.

5. MISCELLANEOUS: Entering The 2,000,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points Sweepstakes constitutes permission to use the name, photo and likeness of the prize winners for advertising and publicity purposes (where legal) without further authorization or compensation. The winners will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release before the prize is awarded. Failure to return Affidavit and release within specified time period will result in forfeiture of prize. For the names of the prize winners, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: The 2,000,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points Sweepstakes Winners List, P.O. Box 2068, Maryland Heights, MO 63043. Requests must be received (not postmarked) no later than 1/4/01.

6.  OPERATION: Sponsors reserve the right in their sole discretion to cancel or suspend the sweepstakes should viruses, bugs or other causes beyond the control of Sponsors corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the sweepstakes. Sponsors are not responsible for the failure of any electronic equipment, computer transmissions and/or network connections, any inaccuracies in information which may be used in the sweepstakes, or for any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries. Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or damaged US Mail, e-mail, or other technical errors.
